From The Office…
Wow! It's only the 6th of February as I start writing this and we have already been so busy this year. We've had the "District Man of the Year" banquet, held an event for foreign exchange students, an awards program and dinner for a kids snowmobile group, had another cleaning day in the kitchen, a chili cook-off, a meatball dinner fundraiser and of course, the Super Bowl party. I'm trying to get this article together early as we head to Faribault next week for Mid-Year conference, please forgive me if I forget to include anything or anyone.

By now you should have submitted your name or at least been talking about one or more you would like to see serve as an officer next year. Remember, these are the individuals that lead our Lodge. We are on a good path, let’s continue moving forward.

Some of you have stepped up to help with different functions and events or donated funds or items to help us get back on our feet. We appreciate everything you've done but as I've said many times, it is 28 years since the fire and many things need our attention. At this time it is the stove, only one oven works, the grill is hard to maintain consistent temperature and the pilot lights keep going out. To make matters worse we are no longer able to get parts for repairs, so the deci-sion has been made to replace it. We have several events already scheduled for this year that will require all our cooking capabilities. Therefore, we are looking to raise money to help pay for the stove. We managed to find a deal on a stove essentially the same size as we have for $2647.65. If you have an idea on a way for us to raise funds or would like to contribute, please let myself or an officer know.

Upcoming events: Rummage Sale March 3rd to benefit the Duluth Horse Trails Alliance, hall rented to Muskies, Inc. March 17th for a banquet, Cribbage tournament March 24th, Kids Easter party March 31st 1-2:30, joint installation of officers Friday April 20th at 5:30 with a pot luck dinner, Jerry Allen Show April 21st, pasties week of April 23rd, Women's annual banquet April 25th ( men serve and clean-up), Proctor Historical Society event April 28th. Of course, we are still offering some kind of meal every Friday. Check the newsletter or call the Lodge and ask "What's for dinner?" (some dinners coming up will need sign-ups.)

See ya around the Lodge.
